Householder planning application

A householder planning application is the usual route for alterations and extensions to an existing house where permitted development does not cover the work. Flats, maisonettes and new dwellings generally need different application types.

The local planning authority decides the application against the development plan and material considerations.

Application forms and fees differ in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland; use the relevant national portal or council process.
