Drop kerb

A drop kerb (vehicle crossover) lets cars cross the pavement to a driveway. You normally need permission from the highway authority, and sometimes planning permission, especially in conservation areas or where a new access joins a classified road.

Utilities, trees and sightlines often affect whether consent is granted.

Highway authorities manage crossovers in each nation; contact the council that looks after the road.
